Cookie Statement

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data that may be stored on your computer or mobile device and which contains data related to a website you visit. It may allow a website ‘remember’ your actions or preferences over a period of time, or it may contain data related to the function or delivery of the website.

Further information on cookies can be found at http://ec.europa.eu/ipg/basics/legal/cookies/index_en.htm

Cookies used on Mary McCauley Proofreading website

My website, Mary McCauley Proofreading, uses cookies when you visit it. It uses two different types of cookie:

Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the operation of my website and are set there by my website hosting platform Weebly.
For more information on Weebly cookies, please visit its website.

Analytical and performance cookies
These are set by Google Analytics, whose services I use to help me develop and manage my website, for example to see which are the most popular pages. This helps me to provide relevant information in an easily accessible format. The information gathered by these cookies is anonymous and it doesn’t allow me to identify who you are. Furthermore, on my website I have activated the IP Anonymisation function offered by Google, which will delete the last parts of your IP address.

Both Google and Weebly are certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield.
Google Analytics has a cookie opt-out mechanism. For more information on the cookies it sets, please visit its website.

Other third party cookies
Some of the cookies set on my website are served by third parties and are not related to Mary McCauley Proofreading. If you visit a page on my website that may have content embedded in it from, for example, YouTube or Facebook, those service providers may set their own cookies on your web browser. I don’t control which cookies are set by such third parties or how that cookie information is used, as such cookies can only be accessed by the organisation that originally set them. You should check these third-party websites for more information about their cookies.

Links to other websites

This website contains links to other websites. It is important you realise that when you click on one of these links, you are entering a separate website to this one. I recommend that you read the privacy and cookie statements of these linked websites, as their privacy policies may differ from mine and they set their own cookies.

Managing cookies

You can choose whether or not you want to accept cookies by changing your browser settings. Different browsers provide you with different controls, so below I’ve listed links to popular browsers’ instructions on how to do this. Generally, your browser will offer you the choice to accept, refuse or delete all cookies at all times, or those from providers that website owners use (‘third party cookies’), or those from specific websites.
